Egg Freezing

图层 3

The number of eggs in a woman’s life is predetermined from birth. Ovarian reserve and egg quality gradually decline from the ages of 30-35. Egg freezing allows women to preserve their fertility at a younger and healthier stage for future pregnancies.

Suitable for the following women:

– Has reached childbearing age without specific pregnancy planning

– With decreased ovarian reserve due to health problems

– Who are temporarily unable to conceive due to heavy workload or illnesses such as cancer

Egg freezing process:

  1. Ovulation stimulation – The doctor will stimulate multiple eggs through medication. Women will have ultrasound scans frequently to monitor follicle growth. When the follicles develop to an optimal size, the doctor will prescribe drugs to trigger ovulation.

  2. Egg retrieval – It involves inserting a narrow needle into the ovaries through the vagina under ultrasound guidance. Follicles will be collected using a needle and examined for the presence of eggs under microscope. It is a relatively safe procedure and is done under light general anaesthetic. The whole process usually takes only 15 to 30 minutes.

  3. Cryopreservation – Egg retrieval will be done under anesthesia. The retrieved eggs will be evaluated in various aspects such as quantity, quality, and shape before entering the cryopreservation procedure. The general storage period can be as short as one month, and as long as ten years.
