DTaP Vaccine is made by exotoxins secreted by tetanus and diphtheria bacilli, which are attenuated and made into toxoids, and mixed with purified pertussis antigen components. The subject is immune to tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis; in addition to protecting the individual, it can also reduce the chance of pertussis infecting young children and causing serious complications.

 

Who should consider vaccination

  • Pregnant women (during the second or third gestation)
  • Postpartum women 
  • Baby Caretakers including parents, grandparents, domestic helpers and post-natal care workers
  • Elderly Caretakers
  • People aged 50 or above
  • People with Weakened Immunity
  • Patients with chronic disease such as diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
  • Healthcare workers
  • People who have not received any Boostrix vaccine in the past 10 years

Possible Side Effects

  • There may be redness, swelling and pain at the inoculation site, and occasionally loss of appetite, vomiting, fever and other symptoms. The above reactions are usually short-lived and will recover within a few days. Please do not rub or grasp the injection site.
  • If the inoculation site is severely red and swollen or does not subside after several days, suppuration or persistent fever, please seek medical treatment as soon as possible.
